By comparing the stability of the two kinds of tranexamic acid and alpha arbutin, the stability detection results of the two kinds of arbutin for ordinary serum alpha arbutin were the same under the same pH and light influence. Under the influence of temperature, β-arbutin solution showed instability after reaching 60℃. Therefore, in terms of both, α-arbutin is far superior to β-arbutin in terms of stability.

According to the provisions of the “Cosmetic Hygiene Code”, α-arbutin is only allowed to be used in hair color and artificial nail products, and is a restricted substance in cosmetics and skin care products as ordinary alpha arbutin serum. Generally, cosmetics should achieve a better whitening effect, and the appropriate dosage of arbutin should be 3%. When the dosage is lower than this value, arbutin has no obvious effect on inhibiting the catalytic activity of tyrosinase in the skin; when the dosage is greater than 3%, hydroquinone will cause skin damage. In addition, hydroquinone is the initial raw material for the synthesis of arbutin. Unreacted hydroquinone remains after the reaction is over.
