Annatto
Annatto is a food additive annatto (bixin) obtained by extracting and refining the outer testa of annatto seeds with a solvent or a cold weak alkali aqueous solution, and a food product obtained by hydrolyzing and refining it with a hot alkaline solution. Additive annatto (norbixin); a natural edible yellow-orange pigment produced from the epidermis of annatto (Bixaorellana, also known as redwood tree, mainly grown in Brazil, Ecuador, Jamaica, West Indies and other places) seeds.
